I had breakfast this morning with a remarkable young man named Kyle Maynard. Kyle was visiting DC and was helping out and speaking at Walter Reed hospital to the wounded warriors.
Kyle is 23 years old. He is an author, a business owner and a public speaker. Here is a link to his book called No Excuses which became a New York Times bestseller.
He is a congenital amputee. He bench presses 400 pounds. He was a wrestler in school and has fought professionally. He was the most charming and upbeat person I have met in many years.
During our breakfast, he pulled out his Blackberry and sent some text messages. I was astonished and amazed at his dexterity and physicality.
It was an honor to meet him. I get lots of whining from people that I meet and lots of outstretched hands asking for favors but Kyle was so positive and giving. It really touched me deeply. It renewed my faith in the greatness of people.
Go buy this book. Learn more about him. I was moved deeply by his story.
That sounds like a great book. Thanks for posting.
I read The Terry Fox Story a few years back and thought it was very inspiring. It’s about a cancer patient and amputee that attempts to run all the way across Canada. There is also a movie, but I enjoyed the book more.
