Forty years ago the integrated circuit was introduced to the world invented the year before by Jack Kilby of Texas Instruments. Click here to read all about him.
I just stumbled on an article about the press conference on the launch of the integrated circuit and how people reacted to the news which was with great underestimation. Who knew then what the birth of micro-electronics and semi-conductors would mean to us to all?
Mr. Kilby is the ”Adam” to all of our Internet and technology-based businesses and industries.
Pay homage to his memory. It has only been 40 years since his invention. Time flies when you are having fun!
I remember when I grew up in San Jose his company building was right next to the Wrigley Factory. Oddly enough the Wrigley Factory was wayyyyyyy more secretive than TI.
OMG! Texas Instruments! I remember when the first calculator came out and it was $500. When I went to a “computer show” way back when, TI had voice activated keyboards. I prayed for them. THEY NEVER CAME TO BE!
But technology is wonderful, and yet frightening.
