Last night was quite the night of hockey watching Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals on television while watching the Hershey Bears win the Calder Cup on a laptop.
Can we be any prouder of our AHL partners? No we can’t!
They are helping us to build a culture of excellence and of winning. They are grooming our young players and molding them into champions. The Hershey Bears are the cream of the crop in the AHL with 10 Calder Cup Trophies in their history! Kudos to Michael Neuvirth for being named Playoff MVP as well.
I congratulate everyone in the organization. I also want to congratulate all of the people at our ECHL affiliate too, the South Carolina Sting Rays, as they recently won the Kelly Cup as champs of their league as well.
As I have noted, youth must be served and I am so pleased that we have great prospects still to groom and great partners to groom them.
And thus ends a great season of hockey. It was a long road well travelled. We are officially in the off season now as a franchise, planning and looking forward to improving the Washington Capitals. Thank you for your ongoing support.
Alzner belongs in Washington. Nothing showed that more clearly than Jeff Schultz being victimized one on one by Brandon Dubinsky in the Rangers series where he was faked out of his shoes. Schultz is a heart-breaker, a big tall defenseman who doesn’t play a physical style and who is not particularly strong positionally in his own zone.
Like Steve Eminger, I think he is a former pick that just won’t put it all together here in Washington.
Congratulations to the Hershey Bears, and to Neuwirth for his well deserved MVP title for the playoff. The celebration last night was just fantastic and it was a great way to end the Hockey season. Any chance will see coach Bob Woods with the Caps next season?
WOOOOOOT.. Caps are looking good from top to bottom…need something to put the Caps over the top!
The Bears and Rays had a great season. We seem flush with good young talent.
Time to shift some up to the big club and see our boys lifting the Stanley cup next year.
Ted,
Thanks to you and George McPhee, and Coach Bruce Boudreau for putting such great young & older players in Hershey. I’ve been a Bears STH for around 37 years. The last 2 Cups that Hershey has won has been awesome.
Congratulations to the Hershey Bears
Your vision for this organization is broader than most fans are even beginning to see, and it makes me very proud to be a fan of the team all the way from the top down. I can’t wait until next season; the Caps organization will take all three Leagues by storm!
Wow what an exciting game for the Bears! I went to games 3-5 in Hershey and listened to John on the radio last night. Great game and great win. Congrats Bears you guys are the best and as a die hard Caps fan and Bears fan this is great news. I hope to see a few of these guys on the Caps roster this fall.
=) GMGM has done a great job rebuilding the farm!
Way to go Bears! Calder Cup Champions!!!!! http://twitgoo.com/saol
