Clapton/Winwood - Winner

Eric Clapton is 64 years old. Steve Winwood is 61 years old. We should all be so fit, so cool and so talent-laden when we reach our golden years.  The concert last evening was very special. These are two good old friends. They have known each other and played with one another for more than 40 years and it showed. They were tight yet effortless. The music was beautiful; the back up band was complimentary; and let us be honest…”Clapton is god”. I don’t think any guitarist is as confident, slow handed and pitch perfect as him. He still brings it. He was in a relaxed and great mood. The fans loved the show and a great time was had by all. Steve Winwood’s voice is still strong and he has always been multi-talented. It was great to see him back on stage.

Quite the week for concerts locally with David Byrne, Elvis Costello and Clapton/Winwood and my daughter is going to see No Doubt tonight.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the summer of love, I am revisiting albums released in and around that year; 1969. In my estimation 1969 and surrounding years are matched by only one other time for music releases; in and around the year 1991. In that year I happened to be entering HS. I consider myself and my peers to be fortunate to be coming of age with the music of that time. We also had the music that came out of the 60s.
One album released in Dec. 1967? A little known band from England; Traffic, including a 19 year old Steve Winwood. - J
