Ted, Bill Clement is going to be a bit biased. He played for a time here (and was the captain of the team, I think).

That said, he is a pretty good analyst and knows of what he speaks (as opposed to another NBC analyst whose name rhymes with Sike Silbury.)

The Caps were the #4 team in the league in the regular season, and it can be argued that they were the 3rd best team in the playoffs...this team can go places, and one of those places leads to a parade with the Stanley Cup down Pennsylvania Avenue.

Teddy, and as you have always said health and a little bit of luck comes in mighty handy. I am a humble fan but I do believe.

And that from Bill Clement, no less! Oh my goodness gracious, talk about your double whammies!

However, look at the alternative. You're not having to write, "Don't believe the media, we're really not that bad." Having to ward off a jinx is a much better problem to have.

And besides--it's bad luck to be superstitious. ;)

Highly regarded analyst? Really? I wouldn't be too worried about the jinx Ted. It's really easy to pick the 4 best teams from each conference last year and say they'll be "contenders" for the cup next season. His conclusions in the article are similar to throwing a pair of dice and guarenteeing they'll come up between 2 and 12.

I'm not going to predict the cup in June...but I'll throw out some teams we need to be very careful around...the Sabers are going to be dangerous if they stay healthy next year. Columbus will be big if Mason repeats. Lastly, I think the Devils will be a serious contender.

One last thing; living in Philly, I've had the opportunity to watch Flyers free agent Mike Knuble up close. You really should try to sign this guy -- exactly the kind of winger you need to replace Feds or Kozlov.

it's only a jinx when The Hockey News features a Capital, or one of the Washington Capitals, on its cover. Everytime they ran a team or player on its cover in the playoffs, the team lost (except the last edition, when they featured one of the hated Pens).

Since when did you become superstitious, anyway? It seems everyone in hockey is, playoff beards and all.

Worry not, Ted: the only way predictions like this can truly jinx things is if the players start believing the hype and become overconfident. Given the Caps' talented but level-headed roster, along with the down-to-earth Coach Boudreau, I don't see that happening. :)
