Torch was Passed

As noted in my blog twice this series, the Pittsburgh Penguins are the better team and they deserved to win the Stanley Cup. The torch has been passed from the Red Wings to the Penguins. They are the class of the NHL. They are the champs and they deserve everyone’s respect and congratulations.

They are a great set of core young players and they have a great franchise; great fan base; great ownership and coaching. We all have our hands full now. They came back from two game deficits in two different series. They won two Game 7′s on the road. They are worthy Stanley Cup winners. That kind of determination has never been shown before in NHL history. Youth must be served. Kudos and congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Connecting the World Through Music

Watch The Mixtress with 7 minutes of your time. What a crisp little film about a great and needed operation for indie musicians. This is the kind of film we will see more and more of and I am so pleased to help bring these films to a wide audience via SnagFilms. Watch this over the weekend. It is short, smart and essential with great characters and great stories. Enjoy.

Elvis has Left the Building

Click here to see Elvis Costello: the one that I remember; the one who I watched play in small clubs all around New England and NYC during the 70′s. Elvis was angry. He was smart. He was a fantastic song writer and lyricist.

In the 80′s and 90′s, he morphed into a showman, a crooner, a Tony Bennett of our generation. But he still rocked. He was relevant.

Now he is a TV talk show host, a husband and a commentator on world events. He isn’t angry anymore.

Go Mystics, Go!

We are 3-0. We beat Detroit in their building last night. Click here to read about the game.

It is still early in the season but I am proud of the play of the Washington Mystics. Managing partner Sheila Johnson and COO Greg Bibb are the architects of a very crisp and smart turnaround of our team: new GM, new coach, many new players, a new system and some high draft picks. What a difference a new plan and good execution can make.

I hope to see you all at some games this season. The Mystics play an exciting brand of basketball. I enjoy the games very much. It is great family entertainment and it is very affordable summer programming. Come on out and support our team and the WNBA.

Two Great Series Continue

The Stanley Cup Finals have been as advertised - with great skill; lots of star power and truly competitive - the best the NHL has to offer.

The two teams that are still competing have set the bar quite high for us to jump over. They are both strong in goal and have strong and mobile D that scores and gets pucks on the net; lots of depth; great strength down the middle; and forwards that back check, crash the net, draw penalties and can score.

This has been a showcase for great hockey and it has been a joy to watch.

Will It Work?

Here is a film called “Bridge Over the Wadi” that shows how difficult peace and understanding can be in the Middle East. Our President gave a compelling speech filled with hope and promise.

Here is a small setting; a local integrated school; and some families all battling over history and culture. Peace though can be achieved and is it. There is hope. Check this out by clicking here. It is so interesting to see real life and real results. This film is sweet and very compelling. Give peace a chance.
