Cinematical on YouTube Premiering Movies

Here is a good story on online venues such as YouTube now starting to premiere films to massive audiences. As you know, we at SnagFilms have been premiering films for more than 9 months now. It is a smart and savvy decision by certain filmmakers and I believe a trend that you will see lot more of over the next few years. Most Important Man You Don’t Know

Forty years ago the integrated circuit was introduced to the world invented the year before by Jack Kilby of Texas Instruments. Click here to read all about him.

I just stumbled on an article about the press conference on the launch of the integrated circuit and how people reacted to the news which was with great underestimation. Who knew then what the birth of micro-electronics and semi-conductors would mean to us to all?

Mr. Kilby is the ”Adam” to all of our Internet and technology-based businesses and industries.

Pay homage to his memory. It has only been 40 years since his invention. Time flies when you are having fun!

Angels and Demons – The Real Story

Have you read the book Angels and Demons? Have you seen the film starring Tom Hanks?

The Vatican - that special good third place - is featured as its key setting. I have visited the Vatican and spent some quality time within its walls. It is a country; a church; a school; a place of worship; a place of politics and government. It is a place that is unlike any other place in the world. If you ever get the chance to spend time in Rome, you must go to the Vatican.

National Geographic has produced an amazing film about the Vatican. It was given inside access and went to places never seen before by the public. Click here to check out this film on SnagFilms. This is a wonderful production, very educational and informative.

What Would Ronald Reagan Do?

There is a new statue in the Capitol Rotunda now of Ronald Reagan. It is seven feet tall; larger than life; and pays homage to a great leader of our nation. Click here for details. It is amazing to think that he would be 100 years of age now.

It is ironic that the statue was installed during these interesting times that we live in. Do you think Ronald Reagan would be bailing out all of these companies? Do you think he would NOT say something meaningful to China about its civil rights? Do you think he wouldn’t have done something more proactive about the bad actors in the banking industry?

We could all learn a lot now about how to develop leadership and help fix our economy from President Ronald Reagan.  Perhaps his statue in the Capitol Rotunda will help inspire our leaders in the Senate and the Congress to do the right things the right way.

Internews – Heroes For Us All

Click here to read a nice piece about Internews, a cause I am pleased to support and encourage to grow. Internews supports young journalists from around the world to keep reporting and to bring local important issues to the forefront of a global audience. It was fun to hang out with some good friends and get reacquainted with Bob Edwards, one of the legends of radio broadcasting. Keep these folks in mind if you want to help a charity. They do the Lord’s work.

No Excuses

I had breakfast this morning with a remarkable young man named Kyle Maynard. Kyle was visiting DC and was helping out and speaking at Walter Reed hospital to the wounded warriors.

Kyle is 23 years old. He is an author, a business owner and a public speaker. Here is a link to his book called No Excuses which became a New York Times bestseller.

Go Will Go

Here is a great story about a very cool sports team owner in town, Will Chang, who now owns completely the DC United. Click here for the story.

DC United is the most successful franchise in town if you look at the last decade in terms of wins and championships. They are the premiere winner in town.

Will is a great executive and a passionate leader. DC United is and will be in very good hands. Go Will Go.

Bing – Is It An “Aha” Moment?

So I have been using the new Bing service for a few days. There is a lot of industry hype around it and you just know that one of these days Microsoft will get it right and take some share away from Google in the search marketplace. Right? Click here to try it.

Bing looks pretty and different. Its navigation is new and it has been working/scaling well now in terms of performance and it is seems to be pretty fast. Bing is trying to differentiate itself with its UI with its verticalization of some key channels such as Travel and Shopping and the way it surfaces photos.

White House on GM’s Chapter 11 Filing

Here is a release from the White House on GM’s Chapter 11 filing as reported by the Washington Post. According to the release, today is just another day at the office. It is all in the “ordinary course”. Read it by clicking here.

And now GM will only have to sell 10 million cars per year to break even instead of 16 million cars per year. I don’t know about you BUT that sounds like a lot of cars that have to be sold annually just to break even.

Do you think GM will sell 35,000 to 40,000 cars today? That is what they have to do every single work day – including Saturdays – to break even!
