As Promised

We made a good and smart free agent signing today by signing Mike Knuble to a two year deal. We believe Mike helps us up front; is a big go-to-the-net kind of forward; will serve as a good mentor to our young forwards; is priced right; and is a very good player and a good influence in the locker room. Click here to see the news release.

We are happy with the signing which fits our strategy, budget and timeline.

I doubt we will do any more in free agency. Time will tell.

“A Certain Kind of Beauty”

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Here is a wonderful write-up on MS from AOL Health. It is a great probing interview complete with a film embed from SnagFilms that documents A Certain Kind of Beauty. It is films and moments like this one that make me smile in satisfaction. This is a great film with a meaningful subject matter and great distribution surrounded by great editorial. Thanks AOL.

Dumb and Dumber

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009
I usually don’t respond to snide dumb remarks but decided to do so here. Check out these offensive, uninformed and dumb comments.

In regards to AOL access, the company built the world’s largest network. It supported 36 million subscription customers and had more than 10 million people online at any given time. It is called simultaneous usage.

Even today with AIM and all other products plus AOL subscribers, the company has online - at any one time - millions and millions of customers.

Go to AIMFight.com as an example and see how many people are online right now connected to you just via AIM. Go fight me. Type in “Leonsis” and then your AIM screen name and see how you do.

I Can See It Now

Neverland morphs into Graceland.

The King of Pop is buried on the grounds. His home is open to the public. For as little as $99 a day, you too can ride on Michael’s rides; tour his bedroom and bathroom; have your picture taken at his gravesite; buy his CD’s and more.

How much do you want to bet that Neverland is now the final resting place for Michael Jackson and that it becomes the new hot tourist attraction a la Graceland?

Wish Us Luck Today

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Today starts free agency. Wish us luck. We will need it.

We are being very circumspect today. Do not expect any glitz or big news. We will pursue some players that can help us in the immediate future but the criterion is that we do not want to sign any veteran players to long term, big, lucrative contracts.

We are up close to the cap as it is. We need flexibility to keep our core of young players together in the out years. We also believe in rewarding our own players more than someone else’s players. We do not feel like we are desperate to make a move. When you feel pressure, that is when you let agents and the market take advantage of you and you can make a signing that you live to regret. We have done that before as have most teams in the league.
