We made a good and smart free agent signing today by signing Mike Knuble to a two year deal. We believe Mike helps us up front; is a big go-to-the-net kind of forward; will serve as a good mentor to our young forwards; is priced right; and is a very good player and a good influence in the locker room. We are happy with the signing which fits our strategy, budget and timeline.
 
I doubt we will do any more in free agency. Time will tell.

  1. Great pickup Ted. You guys just keep em coming. Now if you could have someone help me find a Blue Baseball Cap with your “eagle” or “Weagle” logo on the front of it. Out here towards Baltimore the pickins for Caps gear are slim.

  2. Knuble was the best signing since free agency – couldn’t have gotten a better guy – hated to play against him – hope he enjoys being a Cap – now let’s focus on improving our “D” – we need someone that takes the body!
    Def. upgrade from VK…………. Now we need to deal Nylander and go for “D”…..

  4. Yep – Knuble is a good pick-up and (imo) an improvement over Kozlov.

    Now – let’s start looking at ways to improve our defense. Could we potentially pry Regeher from the Flames?

  9. Good signing, in my opinion. I was growing a little tired of Knuble being a thorn in the Caps’ side. Now, everything I used to dislike about him works to the Caps advantage.

  10. Hey, i am looking forward to next season. I will be making my annual trip from good ol Saskatchewan to DC to watch the caps play with my girlfriend this year. We were both wondering if Backstrom and Semin will be in the Caps lineup for years to come? Great signing and we will get the cup in 2010.

    Great move by GMGM.
    When i checked the list of who was avaiable he is the one that stood out as the best fit. Glad we picked him up.
    I was sad to see brashear go, specialy to ny, but business is business.

  12. Awesome! We’ll miss him here in Philly but he is a great sign by the Caps — congratulations! He’s a heckuva nice guy who will be loved by the fans, and will be a terrific addition both on the ice and in the locker room. He’s smart, cool, durable and doesn’t do dumb, impulsive things. Perfect first line winger!

    Since I mentioned signing him on your blog a couple of days ago, can I get a little credit?

  14. Great signing in Knuble. Solid player fitting a need, good term and a reasonable price. I look forward to seeing him in a Caps jersey. Kudos to the organization.
