Here is out first pass at a new simplified look and feel for my blog, Ted’s Take. There is a bunch of new capabilities that will allow us to do more with photos and video and you’ll see those results in the coming days and weeks. But for now, we wanted to simplify the UI; move some of the navigation to be more intuitive; and clean up the look and feel. I know it will take some getting used to and there are still some bugs to work out but I’m hopeful that you will like this next version of my blog. Let me know what you think.
“Nanking”
The new magic Find word on my Blackberry to skip all the header listings instead of having to page through them. It used to be “Older Entries”
There may actually be few enough now that it’s easier just to page though them.
Ted — I like the design. Easy on the eyes. Only issue I see is that you need to specify a width on the h1 tag in your header. Without the width specified, it causes a horizontal scroll bar to permanently appear in the browser window. 200px seemed to work out just fine when I set it in Firebug.
Ted:
.
Site looks better (simpler), it is easier to navigate (intuitive) and works ok (still some bugs) with Firefox, but I couldn’t get it to work with Explorer.
The navigation is easy to understand There is there is a lot going on here and probably accurately communicates your many interests…it’s more like a portal to everything Ted. Which I guess is the idea
I miss your URL links to other entities, such as your teams, other blogs, etc. Why is this gone?
Very nice update, Ted. I look forward to continuing to check in here! Also, congrats on the NHL standings. It astounds me that you were 5th in ownership. I know it’s quite an accomplishment; but with your availability, professionalism, well-roundedness, and relatability, I’d have given you the one spot. Again, well done all around.
New blog looks promising but it’s kind of annoying that you have to scroll down just to see the latest blog.
Looks like everything’s good now! The x’s turned into arrows and the comment entry block isn’t being hidden by the ESPN gadget.
You can delete both of these entries.
Thanks for being accessable, Ted!
I like the clean feel of the site with this new design. The only minor tweaks I recommend is making it compatible with Google Chrome – It looks really funky when trying to leave comments, you’ll see what I mean.
Just an aesthetic tweak & suggestion, experiment with some new fonts & sizes to continue with the fresh feel.
Overall, I like it though!
Hey Ted love the new redesign of your site.. Just wondering if there were any plans to relaunch the Caps Message Board anytime soon? I must admit that I havent posted over there in about 12 months because of some of the doom and gloomers but it was part of my am routine with coffee. just wondering…
thanks again and great job…..
LETS GO CAPS
Looks a lot better! Definately a lot simpler. I especially like the switchable themes
I like it. This format will work better in mobile clients with the text on the leftmost side.
Please resize the comment input area as it gets trapped behind the NHL Caps storylines ticker and the search and calendar features. The input area is sized improperly in the layer or attributes.
Great look Ted.
Go Caps!!
i’m liking the “wonderTed” theme the best, i don’t really like the main theme all that much

Your Digital Profile
Paper résumés are passé. According to a June 17 NPR segment, recruiters increasingly are looking for evidence that prospective hires are comfortable living in a digital world. LinkedIn profiles are a must, blogs a plus. But beware of what your e-mail address says about you. No cutesy, joint husband-and-wife e-mail addresses, please. Also, at least one executive looks down on AOL (TWX) addresses: “AOL was so 1998,” he says.
