The Season is Now Officially Over

Some of our folks now get to rest and recharge. It has been a very long grind.

We started in September with rookie camp and then training camp. We played exhibition games. We got ready for the season. We prepared for games and for record sales as well.

The season then kicked off in October. We played well; garnered the most points in our history; won another division title; won a playoff series against the NY Rangers in Game 7; and then lost a 7 game series thriller to the Penguins.

We played more than 100 games this season from October through May including preseason, regular season and then the playoffs. And then there were the Hershey Bears playoffs, too, on to a Calder Cup trophy and an AHL championship.

Then to the amateur draft, free agency and then developmental camp.

An amazing run - relentless work - and now our folks get a weekend or two off. The off season is really about 6 weeks long these days. There are still trades to be made preparing for rookie camp in September and then the professionals show up later that month and then soon, we will be dropping the puck for our next season.

Time flies when you are having fun but it is now time for some of our folks to relax, unwind, clear their heads and rest up for another season of great hockey which will literally start up again before we know it. Enjoy some time off this summer. Chill out and spend quality time with family and friends. Go Caps!

    Ted,

It was a great season at that…I, for the first time in my life, bought a Capitals Shirt and look forward to wearing it at Verizon Center.

You know I grew up on Long Island and the Islanders are my boyhood team, but the Capitals are now becoming my “adulthood” team.

Best of luck in ‘09-’10 to you and the entire organization.

    Ted,

at least you guys get six weeks off. We fans remain hard at work thinking about the team 24/7, 365 with no breaks! :-)

Can’t wait for the pre-season, the Convention and the drop of the first puck of the regular season. Go CAPS!

  4. It was a great season. Thanks to you, the management, coaches, staff, and players! We are excited for next year and had a great time this past week in Arlington. There are a lot of young cap fans out there (including my 2.5 year old) All the best. Go Caps!

I’m taking a long vacation in Sunny Isles (NMB) Florida just to get away from the pain of not having hockey to watch.
