Game On!

This is such a sweet and interesting article about street hockey being played in front of the White House here in Washington, DC.

Street hockey is how I learned about the sport growing up in Brooklyn NY playing with skates and sometimes flattened soda cans as pucks.

You should go watch these folks play sometime. Maybe we can get the President to come out and partake as well.

Is Ovie More Popular than Obama?

In Russia, he is. :-)  Thanks to our President who mentioned Alex Ovechkin during his speech in Russia yesterday.

Change has come and I now know our President will accept an offer from us and come on out and Rock the Red at a game this next season. That will be a lot of fun for all. Go Caps! And thank you Mr. President. Click here to read all about it.

“Public Enemies”

I think this is a very important film. I give it 5 stars. It creates a new way to produce films. The lighting was truly magnificent and I believe the film was shot with both film AND in HD and the director, Michael Mann, toggled between both mediums to create a truly one-of-a-kind cinematic experience. Watch carefully as scenes go from film to HD. You will be pleasantly surprised.

The acting was top notch and filled with mega-stars. The storytelling was fantastic. The editing and pace were great for such a long film, almost 2.5 hours.

I think this film will be a hit but will stand the test of time and emerge as an important piece of work. I was impressed. A really great film.

Beyond the Multiplex

Here is Salon with an in-depth piece on next generation film distribution. Click here to read it.

It really touches all of the bases and mentions all of the players in the industry.

Digital distribution of films is really picking up steam. It is amazing to me how well we have positioned SnagFilms. It is mentioned within alongside YouTube, Netflix and Hulu and we are yet to celebrate our first anniversary.

Ted’s Take Redesign

Here is out first pass at a new simplified look and feel for my blog, Ted’s Take.  There is a bunch of new capabilities that will allow us to do more with photos and video and you’ll see those results in the coming days and weeks.  But for now, we wanted to simplify the UI; move some of the navigation to be more intuitive; and clean up the look and feel.  I know it will take some getting used to and there are still some bugs to work out but I’m hopeful that you will like this next version of my blog.  Let me know what you think.
