Presidential Medal of Freedom

Our good friend, Jack Kemp, will be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama in August. For those of us who knew Jack, we know he would have a big smile on his face but his words of acceptance would be very humble. He was an agent of change but more importantly he was just a great guy, a great husband and dad and all around wonderful human being. RIP Jack. You are missed and you were an icon and role model to all of your friends here in Washington, DC. Click here to read this article in The Buffalo News.

  1. Kemp really was an agent of change. It’s a shame he couldn’t get more traction for his ideas. America needs more leadership like that given by Jack Kemp.

  2. Ted – I didn’t know you knew Jack Kemp. He was an old friend of my family’s and when I was a Page in the Congress in the early 70′s he was a junior congressman. he was a super nice guy…and i don’t usually like republicans!

  3. I’m so pleased to read that Jack Kemp will receive this honor. While working at Time Warner and with Howard University, I was honored to meet Mr. Kemp numerous times. He was everything you mentioned above and may I add open, welcoming, funny, smart and support. He was one of a kind. Rest in peace – you honored us with your commitment to change, to what’s right and to making a difference where you can.
