I liked this article — click here to read it. It ranks the top 10 fan bases in the NHL; and the Washington Capital’s fans are now rated top 10 in the league. It is heartening to see our passionate and loud and loving fans being noticed — I of course think our fans are the best in the league — and I thank everyone for Rocking the Red. A good read here; check it out.
You don’t think Caps fans are the best. You have chastised the whole fanbase for not showing up on Easter, been in a physical altercation with one based on a sign, and more recently threatened to take a fan’s tickets and jeopardize his standing at his alma mater and WORK because of vulgar message board postings. If you truly thought we were the best you wouldn’t have a pattern of treating us like crap. Be real.
Kudos for making the Top 10. As much as it has to do with your efforts, it comes down to the fact the team is exciting to watch and Ovechkin fills the seats almost on his own.
I take Chicago as #2 with a big grain of salt. There is no way you can compare Toronto with Chicago as a hockey market. The Leaf fans fill the AC despite Toronto’s record and are less fickle than Habs fans. The Leafs should be #1.
My wife and I are two of those new fans that are now enthusiastically Rocking the Red. We never knew what being a sport fan really mean until the Caps run for the 07-08 playoffs. We are now hooked and have never missed a game ever since. Especially this last season, the Caps were a refuge for a few hours at least from a pretty stressful year of job uncertainties and impending economic disaster. I would like to thank you Ted and all of the caps team and players for a great job. You‘ll have a two very loyal customers for life.
