…Nanking!
So said presenter Campbell Brown of CNN in the category of Best Historical Programming.
We are so humbled and honored and grateful.
Thank you to HBO Documentary Films for working so hard on our behalf. Thanks to Sheila Nevins and Sara Bernstein, two amazing executives and the best friends a filmmaker could ever have in these dark days for independent film.
It was such a pleasure to be at the Emmy Awards last night and witness Walter Cronkite, Barbara Walters and Don Hewitt all being honored and recognized for their life’s work. It was so wonderful to be with my family; our director Bill Guttentag; my college roommate who served as a producer Michael Jacobs; and other key team members.
To be in the same company as NBC; ABC; CBS; CNN; MSNBC; National Geographic; Discovery; PBS; 60 Minutes; and on and on was a thrill.
Making this film has been a wonderful journey for us all from conceiving the idea; hiring the team; filming in China; going to Sundance, Tribeca and Silverdocs; seeing the film in theaters; on HBO; and winning so many awards including a Peabody and now an Emmy.
We dedicated the Emmy to the survivors of the Nanking massacre; to the Westerners who saved the lives of so many people; and to author Iris Chang.
Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners last night. It is an honor to be amongst you and to be part of your community.
Congratulations Ted!
