I”m on my way to do one of my favorite things – mingle with 5,000 of my closest and best friends – fans of the Washington Capitals. I am so looking forward to our first Capitals Convention.
We will learn a lot. We will share a lot. We will have a lot of fun with staff, fans, players, league officials and media.
Bringing together this big community of interest and having some fun is my goal today.
To the 5,000 of you who believed this was a good new innovative idea, thank you for your support.
I am sure we will have some kinks to iron out in this convention format. We will listen to our fans and make it better and better over the years. But I see no risk in bringing together our communities all in one place and time. This should be a positive, happy day. I am excited. Go Caps!
What a FANtastic day! I wanted to meet you and thank you personally, but every time I caught a glimpse of you, I was running off to the next event!!! So I will say “thank you so much” now and tell you what a great time our family had spending time with out favorite team, fans, etc. For a first time convention it had very few kinks. We got there early and stayed to the very end! Thanks again.
It was a great experience, and I’m sorry I didn’t get to tell you so in person. There were things that could have been done better, of course, but those are very few and fairly minor complaints.
Overall it was a tremendous accomplishment, an entertaining day, and a fascinating experience.
Will there be a participant survey?
Hi Ted! I flew in from Chicago (where I now reside) late Friday night so that I could attend the convention yesterday. I had a fantastic time – so glad I could make it! One quick suggestion as to how to make it even better next year: make sure that staff/security is on hand during the Main Stage events. Yesterday during the “Young Guns” session, there were about 20 people standing in the aisle while everyone else (who had chairs) was seated or quietly standing in the back. Despite repeated requests from multiple fans, these people refused to kneel or sit on the ground, blocking the view for those of us who had been in those chairs for more than three hours. It did sour the experience somewhat. I’m hoping that next year, the convention will be even better, taking into consideration fan suggestions, as you are so great at doing! Thanks again!
Ted,
Just wanted to thank you and the organization for putting on this great even today. I had a blast. Thank you for taking a picture with my Fiancee and me. The displays and ineractives were great and it surprised me how little time we had to see much of the panels (thanks to the lines, but what do you expect with such a large crowd). Can’t wait to do it again next year, but more importantly, I can’t wait to see the boys on the ice. Let’s Go Caps! And thank you again.
We gave these tickets to my son for his 17th birthday! My husband, his younger brother and an extra to bring a friend. The four of them take off this morning only to be hit broadside at a stop sign just outside our neighborhood. A woman traveling at a high speed never stopped, hit them, airbags deploy and the car is a “wreck” likely totaled. My daughter and I race to the scene, shaking, after they get checked for injuries. Luckily, other than airbag burns, nothing serious. After reports are finally finished, cars towed, the boys still shaking they lean over and kiss me goodbye. “what!” Oh yeah, we’re definatley heading to the convention, see ya mom! You must be doing something right today!!! They clearly wouldn’t miss it for the world!!!
