My family and I dined at a great new place called Cava. It is on 8th Street in DC behind the Capitol Building. It is the best little new restaurant we have found of late.
The atmosphere was casual and cool. The service was fast, efficient and friendly. The food was spectacular. We ordered and tasted about one dozen little plates: A unique Greek salad; Greek pizza; and lamb sliders. The chef is very creative. The food is healthy. The plates are tasty and it is served in a unique fashion.
We live in such a great city. Places like this deserve our support. It was packed and buzzing last night and deservedly so. I shall return. You should check it out if you live in DC. Five stars from me!
As Ovie says, Cava is “sick”
Very happy that you found one of my favorite places and to see that I am not alone in giving Cava great praise for its atmosphere, food and fantastic service. I am fortunate to live one block from this awesome restaurant. One suggestion….try the Sunday Brunch menu…French Toast to die for…the best in DC….5 stars from me a well. Good luck to the Caps this year!!!
Speaking of the healthy food, can you sell more of it at Caps games? Many, many fans are tired of the old-fashioned fried food. The vendor Fill a Buster in Verizon Center sold out of healthy turkey sandwiches 5 minutes into the first period.
Also in Rockville. And they have a line of hummus, tzatzikin and the like at whole foods. Good stuff.
The Lamb sliders rock. One of the better lunch options on Barrack’s Row if you have to work at the Navy Yard.
Mr. Leonsis,
We thank you very much for the great review and blog on CAVA Restaurant. As children of Greek immigrants we have always looked up to you, and wanted to let you know we were very proud to have you dine with us.
Thanks

“8th Street in DC behind the Capitol Building” – um, Ted, do you mean Capitol Hill?
