Can you walk into a theater and shout, ”Fire”?

Can you get into a plane and say, “I have a bomb”?

Can you say – online - in a poll, “Should we kill the President?”

Can you say online, ”I am going to kill this player”?

Can you say online, “This woman is a tramp - a slut”?

These are all issues that have cropped up in the news of late.

Of course, you can’t and shouldn’t say these things online or in any venue.

But some will argue “why not?”

First amendment – free speech.

It’s a tough subject with no easy answers and with more and more social media tools of late, free speech will broaden and get wider distribution.

I think the Secret Service will track down this individual and throw the book at them. Perhaps there will be jail time involved.

Did someone seriously think they could threaten the President and NOT be held accountable? Isn’t that the height of naiveté and arrogance?

Be careful what you say online and be careful who you threaten and smear. Your digital fingerprints are everywhere. The First Amendment won’t protect you.
