There is a lesson here. If a team wins and does the right things the right way, all is well.
I know though that this is all fleeting and fragile and if we don’t win, there will be headlines about what a bum we have all become.
Stay hungry. Stay humble and win. Be nice. Embrace. Be transparent. Love. Win. Thank you. And be nice when we lose too.
As Mr. Pollin once said to me, “Don’t get too high with the highs or too low with the lows.”
We as fans can stand loosing if the franchise is moving in the rite direction. To know things will get better helps during the lean years. To lose and know theres no end in sight (forth ranked defence in the league and a terrable offencive line and 100 million spent on a D lineman)is what looses fans
When the Capitals organization became (1) singular of purpose (the point is to win the Stanley Cup, not to win “best web page,” etc.) and (2) honest with themselves (“guys like Halpern and Bondra are nice and all, but we don’t have the makings of a championship team”). that’s when the team’s fortunes changed.
Good luck this year, Ted.
