Love Roller Coaster

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Thank you Caps fans. Another great time was had by all. The roller coaster is an apt metaphor for our team and our season - ups, downs and ups!

The Caps Convention is done: Check. The Caps Season Ticket Holder Party is now in the books: Check. We have a few more special evenings lined up for our fans but it is time to get serious now and get back to work.

Thanks OFB for the pictures of a night well spent.

See you all on Thursday night as we play perhaps one of the best teams in the NHL. What a brutal schedule we have embraced to kick off the season playing Boston, Philly, Detroit, New York Rangers and now San Jose. Go Caps!

Captured

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Here is a good one, a well done and provocative film called Captured.

Take a walk on the wild side - art, neighborhoods, drugs, rock ‘n roll - the real NYC. This is a great film and very well directed.

Junior is a Senior

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Wow. This is interesting news. Junior Seau hung out with the Washington Capitals for a day at Kettler and then in Boston at our season opening game. He was working as part of our staff and filming that work behind the scenes as part of his TV show on VERSUS.

He was very professional, hard working and a lot of fun to be around. He just announced that he will rejoin The Patriots this season. What a classy man and an amazing athlete.

Mighty Have Fallen

I can’t believe that BusinessWeek magazine just sold for $ 2 to $ 3 million in cash. That is what we pay some of our forwards on our hockey team!

BW is one of the most respected publications of our era. It is considered one of the bibles of business. It was one of the first publications I subscribed to as a young college grad.

I knew the long time CEO of McGraw Hill. In fact, he has a home and is a neighbor of mine down in Vero Beach, Florida.

My head is spinning, $2 to $5 million? What does this say about the print magazine business? An Icon like BW sells for what we pay Alex Semin. Wow.
