Our Unsung Hero Dick Patrick

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Dick Patrick is our longtime President of the Washington Capitals. He is a successful business leader here in our community as well as a great husband and family man. I consider him a very close friend and confidante. He has no ego. He is low key and I was thrilled to see that he did this interview on the radio yesterday.

He actually reached out to me and brought me into the game of hockey as majority owner of the team. It was Dick who was most vocal about our rebuild. It was Dick who I give the credit to for extending the Ovechkin contract to 13 years. He pushed us all to make that aggressive move.

Dick is steady, mature, honest and has very high levels of personal integrity. He is also part of one of hockey’s royal family. He may seem low key but the passions for our team and the game boil at high levels within.

I am honored to be partners with Dick Patrick. Read this article.

I Looked Like Ringo

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Watch this film. My best friend in NYC says that I looked liked Ringo when I was young. Too funny.

Brian Epstein was truly the fifth Beatle. He was a classy man, a man of taste and a man who managed the Beatles to become the #1 act of all time.

I am so proud to let you all watch great films like this one on SnagFilms. This is worth your while. Watch it this weekend.

What’s NOT to Laich?

Brooks goes mainstream and makes it into pop culture in Sports Illustrated. Is that a wry smile from Brooksie within?

Jump the Shark

Friday, October 16th, 2009

That felt good. It was the first time since we have owned the team that the Caps beat the Sharks.

I liked the way we played aggressive and terrific team-oriented defense.

I thought Alex Semin had two tone setting shifts to start the game and he deserved that first goal. He was a load to handle last night.

Alex Ovechkin played like he always plays and was rewarded for driving hard to the net - twice - in less than a minute.

Mike Knuble is a grown up and plays the game the way it is supposed to be played. He is a joy to watch. Our grinders were grinding. Our D played big and made it difficult to enter our zone. Our goaltending was top notch. It was a very good and precise game for us.
