That felt good. It was the first time since we have owned the team that the Caps beat the Sharks.
I liked the way we played aggressive and terrific team-oriented defense.
I thought Alex Semin had two tone setting shifts to start the game and he deserved that first goal. He was a load to handle last night.
Alex Ovechkin played like he always plays and was rewarded for driving hard to the net - twice – in less than a minute.
Mike Knuble is a grown up and plays the game the way it is supposed to be played. He is a joy to watch. Our grinders were grinding. Our D played big and made it difficult to enter our zone. Our goaltending was top notch. It was a very good and precise game for us.
I could go on and on. I was proud of the way we played last night. To a man, we were up for that game and we deserved the win.
So let us review. We beat Boston - the team with the second best record in the league last year - on the road. We have now beaten San Jose - the team with the best record last year – at home. We tied in regulation to get a point in Philadelphia in their home opener and we lost by a goal on the road to Detroit. We were beaten by a goal by the New York Rangers, a team with one of the best records this year. And we got a point for a regulation tie against the always tough-to-play New Jersey Devils. This has been a grind of a start to a season.
We are none the worse for wear. We are in the midst of a home stand.
The coffee tastes better this morning. That was a nice win. Thanks for coming to the game or watching on TV. Go Caps!
Beat the Sabres? Why would we have to do that? We only play PLAYOFF teams in the playoffs… On the bright side, the Sabres should have some pretty good golfers on the team… Great win last night, Ted!
Let us know when you beat the Sabres. Then I’ll be impressed.
It was so exciting last night! Breaking that record after 10 years is just one success of many to come this season.
Great win for the Caps last night. All the big players stepped up when the team needed them. Keep up the great work Ted. You’re a model owner for the league, as well as the DC/Metro area. Now if only some of the other local franchises could take note of the Caps’ model…
