Hello Ted - I did not know of any other way to contact you - my e-mail actually does not relate to this blog. I just wanted to commend you on the Capitals’ organization and single out the services provided by the Guest Specialist, Justin Fenlon.

My sister, Susan Powers, and I have been avid Caps fans for three years and Season Ticket Holders for two years. My sister was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer five years ago, and her five year cancer-free anniversary was September 29th of this year.

I contacted Justin in August and asked if there was any way that I could get a card signed by the players for her anniversary. He explained that he did not have any contact with the players, but would meet with us at one of the pre-season games and give Susan a bag of Caps memorabilia.

Unfortunately, at the end of August we found out that Susan’s cancer had metastasized and she now has Stage IV - terminal - cancer. After an operation, she started the first of four rounds of chemotherapy three weeks ago. Even though it is terminal, the doctors are optimistic about her chances for a long life span (she was diagnosed with cancer when she was 41).

The reason I am telling you this is to offer my thanks to you and Justin for the consideration he has given us. We caught up with him at the Caps Convention and he spoke with us. He also met up with us at the Rangers pre-season game and spent time with us, as well as giving each of us a bags of Caps ’stuff’.

Justin has always been responsive when I have called or e-mailed him, and he cheered my sister up by meeting with us. He is a quality guy and an excellent representative for the Caps organization.
