$4 of train cost = $16 for a family of four (which is why I drive and park in a $10 garage).

For the money, hockey is the best entertainment in the sporting industry (even though it's not cheap).

Hey Ted,

The Caps are a bargain! Win or lose, attending games is always enjoyable.

One argument I have with this article is that surcharges, extra fees, and taxes are not included in the analysis. I think including those would paint a more accurate picture of how much it really costs to attend a game.

My second argument with this analysis is that it does not take into account the accessibility and extremely low cost associated with public transportation in DC and other large, metro areas. I pay less than $4.00 total to travel to and from games (as do thousands of fans), which actually means attending Caps games is far less expensive than in many other cities.

Rockin' my red,

i looked at the TMR website and their calculation of "fan cost index" looks like it's skewed because it includes parking cost but not subway cost; most Caps fans don't seem to drive to the games. see for yourself- http://www.teammarketing.com/fancost/

The MASSIVE discount the season ticket holders get is fantastic but it skews the numbers. The cheapest available seats for weekend games are in the $60-75 range, hardly a bargain. With ticketmaster charges, you are looking at nearly $300 for a family of 4 in the cheap seats, not to mention concessions.

Just think how boring this world would be if you were able to please everybody. You have the BEST sporting product in this area, without all the drama of some other local teams and at a reasonable price. The money spent at a CAPS game seems to be put to good use on players, coaches, staff,so keep going the way you are.The CUP can't be far.....

You can buy 10 dollar tickets to the Nats games because no one wants to go to Nats game because they are sadly...not very good. I don't mind paying 100 bucks to sit close to the ice, it would be nice if the drinks were a little cheaper. Maybe like 2 for 1 on Tuesday night games or once a month or something. Also I know a lot of teams give Student discounts, do the Caps offer something like that?

It's great to have an owner who wants to have 'a true partnership with the fans'. It's a great product and well worth the price of admission, for any seat. I have the whole family hooked. Took my wife, 2 daughters, and 2 of their friends to see the Columbus game. I was able to get 6 tickets for $84. I know this was the secondary market, but it is a little more than the cost of a movie. My daughters now ask me all the time when the next Caps game is going to be on.

And you're right on about being interactive. My wife went to Kettler yesterday to watch the morning practice and thought it was awesome to be up close and watch. And today she signed us up for the upcoming blood drive. She is surpassing me in fandom!

I couldn't agree more. Thank you Ted for all that you have done to make the Caps what they are today. I love bragging about being a STH for the BEST team in sports!!

That's great, but still - (from the very accurate article) "the Caps do have higher-than-average prices for parking, beer, programs and souvenirs, making the total game experience slightly more expensive than other teams with cheaper prices." Also, the cheaper seats sell out real quick. I only get to 1 or 2 games a year. Additionally, for $44 you don't get a great seat. I shelled out $50+ for a Penguins game once. I was front row, of the upper deck. I understand that it's a smaller venue, but for $10 I can get a decent seat at the Nat's, so I end up there a lot more often. Looking forward to the rest of the season. I'm glad the Nylander situation is finally being resolved and we can get some more space under the cap to use. Go Caps. I'll be watching from my couch.
