I would like to play one single game where all of our players are healthy and in the lineup. Just one as it hasn’t happened this season yet. Imagine if we were healthy. How many points would we have? What kind of pace would we be playing in terms of points garnered?
We are really banged up.
No Alexander Semin; Mike Knuble; Boyd Gordon; Quintin Laing; Milan Jurcina; Shaone Morrisonn. Jose Theodore is out for a few days and, of course, Michael Nylander is deciding where he wants to play. It is funny. That is about $20 million in payroll not in the lineup.
We have back to back games this weekend. We will play both of our young goaltenders. We will play John Carlson on defense. He is 19 years old.
Let the games begin.
And I want to do another shout out to Matt Bradley, the epitome of a hockey player. Matt is one of my favorite people in the locker room. He is so upbeat and so grateful to play in the NHL. He loves his teammates and our fans. He plays every game like it should be played.

@Tom Moran, relax man. Nylander gets paid the same no matter what he does, where he plays or doesn’t. Even you admitted he clearly “doesn’t fit into the organizations style of play”, and thus is not playing. Bruce has a more up down style of play than Nylander dues.
He wants to play of the Washington Capitals, but they don’t want him. Thus he is deciding if he wants to continue to wait in the press box (unlikely) or play somewhere on a loan (KHL most likely). How is that being treated unfair?
Nylander went through waivers. Now he is deciding if he wants to play in the KHL. It is unlikely that any NHL team will want him this season because of the 4.5 Million cap hit. If he was only 2, he would probably be playing right now, but that’s life in the cap regulated NHL.
If Nylander had an undervalued contract and was running away from the field in the stats department, there is a point where the contract would be insulting if the organization refused to make any adjustments. And the fans would be on Nylander’s side.
It’s not that the Caps don’t like or appreciate the man, things have played out and Nylander is no longer in the plan. They’re not asking him to take a pay cut for not playing, they’re asking him to show he has decent character and find somewhere that can use him in a reasonable amount of time.
Teddy, I like that saying “Matt Bradley week”. When I saw Matt Bradley get back on the ice I was kind of surprised! But when I saw him coming down the ice with puck and stick weaving in and out, I knew that was a goal and a precise goal at that. How sweet it was! And welcome back Ovie! Great Game! Rock the Red. Maybe I am misinterpreting this, but i take offense to the way you wrote this.
Michael Nylander has been nothing but professional since he has been a member of your organization. In my opinion the organization has not treated him fairly at all. He doesn’t fit into the organizations style of play and long term plans..i get that, but the guy has a contract and an NMC that your GM gave to him. So he is not “deciding where he wants to play”. He wants to play for the washington capitals.
