…That even Chuck Norris won’t put on skates. Read that comment. LOL!
I love that one.
Our fans are so clever. Thank you.
Nate Ewell should be in the hockey Hall of Fame now for writing (see Nate’s tweet) and no RSVP yet from Jim Kelley.

Ted,
Your quest for fans, money, and a championship is obvious.
Your defense of Ovechkin as he puts the careers of others in jeopardy is regrettable. And I think I know why. You need to keep him happy, or else he’ll leave. Scary stuff, Ted!
The thing is, Ted, that I want to like you and the Capitals. I do think you’re a good guy and I actually want to see the Capitals succeed. But you’re killing me! Because by defending Ovechkin’s knee-on-knee and other flagrant hits, which are repeated, you look classless. You’re defending the indefensible, just to satiate Ovie and your fan base. You know as well as anyone that Ovie doesn’t have to play that way to be great, but whatever, right? Cause whatever Ovie wants, Ovie gets!
You have a great team that can win with or without the “Great 8″, so I encourage you to remember that you’re a powerful guy. The Capitals, the Wizards, etc.
Please try to recognize that Ovechkin is a star, but not when he acts “reckless” — just what Boudreau said before he drank from the same well you’ve been drinking from.
Life is short, Ted. Be a role model and an example to be proud of. Don’t stoop for success.
Cheers.
Daniel….I’m sure there is a blog out there for pittsburgh fans…I suggest you go check it out…I’m sure they even say what a great player Cindy Crosby is…He’s no Ovechkin, Thank Goodness, for you….I dont think your pure hockey heart could take it. you probably remember the good ole days, huh? The days of a Purist, and probably the best to ever play? Gordie Howe. Oh Wait…Gordie also liked to hit, and played on the edge of the line….hmmmmm seems passion might have something to do with great players that play so close to the line, that eventually they skate over it….But then again, theres always your crosby…as long as he doesnt break a nail, I’m sure he’ll be just fine and well remembered…
Rod (and indirectly to Ted), the greatest to ever play was not, by any means, Gordie Howe. You’re attempt to slight Daniel by insinuating that he is old (”the good ole days” I believe you said) is somewhat shot down by you referring to Howe as the greatest ever, thus dating yourself. In reality, the greatest ever is either Gretzky or Lemieux, and they were not “hitters”. But I digress.
Let me start by saying that I 110% respect Ovechkin as a scorer. There’s no other player I fear flying through the neutral zone more than him – not even “Cindy” or Malkin. But that’s it.
The mindset of Capitals fans is so narrow and uneducated in the world of hockey that they will buy whatever is sold to them and right now, what’s being sold is that hitting equals passion. Let’s consider an alternative and assume that passion equals drive to succeed. I’ll use “Cindy” Crosby here as an example. When Sid came into the league he was one of the worst in the league at face-offs. His passion (i.e., drive to succeed) made him focus on this aspect of his game and he is now in the top 10 in the league (even higher with players who have taken a minimum of 140 or so). He also wanted to focus on the defensive end. He did and now plays regularly on the penalty kill. If you’re asking yourself why these things are important than stop reading cause you’re pretty much the equivalent of a hockey retard.
My point is, Ovechkin is one/two dimensional and does not have that same passion or, drive to succeed. He’ll always be a one (scoring) or two dimensional (if you count hitting as a dimension) player. When he gets older and he can’t hit as hard or as often because he is aging, and loses some of his scoring touch, what will he fall back on? Nothing. He does not have the passion to make himself into a better overall player.
You’re redundant capital fan comments about “Cindy” Crosby tell me you have no hockey intelligence outside of what Ted and the Washington media tells you to think and that’s alright with me. Whenever I actually get a little fired up about capital fans and their comments that lack in any intelligence whatsoever, all I have to do is go to youtube and watch two videos - one of the save on Ovechkin’s breakaway in GAME 7 and one of the Penguins (notice I did not say Sid here because the team wins cups, not individuals) hoisting the cup. You, on the other hand can watch your “passion” video - Ovie getting hurt performing his knee on knee hits.
