It is That Time of Year

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

We get sweaty and itchy about being consumers. We want to shop til we drop.

Think again. Watch What Would Jesus Buy? and step off the ledge.

Save some money and help a charity.

Make something personal for a loved one.

This is such a great film to watch this time of year. Check it out on SnagFilms.com.

Go to 7 minutes and 20 seconds in. I couldn’t have said it better myself!

I guess we will all be going to Russia with love for these games.

Arturs Irbe

Kudos to our new goalie coach Arturs Irbe, a man who is very passionate and involved with the art and science of goaltending.

Arturs is deeply involved with creating physical and mental habits for our goaltenders. He is very focused on excellence and on communicating and teaching the ins and outs of this set of crafts to all of the goaltenders in our entire system.

He has been a breath of fresh air for us, highly energetic and global in his approach. He speaks many languages. He has our players’ respect and is a really fun person to be around. Arturs was a great NHL goaltender and he is emerging as a really talented coach now as well.

Check out this article on Japers’ regarding goaltenders and the Olympics. It is a very astute analysis.

A Cut Above

Here is a wonderful story about the generosity of Mr. Abe Pollin.  It sums it up best what he was all about. We can all learn a lot about life and generosity of spirit from Abe.

Many of us attended the public memorial service for Mr. Pollin last night and shared many stories about his life and career.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the Pollin family during this time of mourning.
