Humbled and Confused

TSN thinks Mike Green is the leader in the midway point for the Norris Trophy. We agree. Why didn’t he make the Canadian Olympic team again?

And Alex Ovechkin is the leading candidate for MVP. Imagine if Alex hadn’t missed eight games to date. What would his stats be right now?

Thank you. This is very kind and we are very humbled. Click and enjoy.

  1. I agree that a fine case can be made for Green being on the team, but let’s face it: Yzerman did us a favor. Green can get motivation from being snubbed, but more important, he can get 3 weeks’ layoff. I presume that’s why BB has been playing him up to 30 minutes in recent games, figuring he can get a rest next month.

  2. I agree there should have been no question about greenie, he is an awesome defenseman and has a great attitude on and off the ice. He is also a team player, what qualities am I missing? Bc hes the type of player I would want to represent on my team! Total BS, I hope that doesnt out him out of focus for tonight…

  3. I think Canada may have passed on Green for their Olympic team because they want more of a stay-at-home defender. If that is the case they are missing out on one of, if not the, best defenders in the league. His ability to add to the offense at the blue line is unmatched.

As for Captain Alex, if he had not been injured his stats would be beyond anyone catching him. I think being named Captain with the full support of his team may actually slow his pace for a bit as the new mantle of responsibility settles in but he will likely go one earning top award for many years to come.

  4. Mike Green didn’t make the Canadian Hockey Team because Steve Yzerman is either weak minded or stupid in his new role. He may have been a great hockey talent on the ice, but that suit and tie have apparently stopped the blood flow to his parakeet-sized brain. He is living proof of the Peter Principle — he has finally ascended to his level of incompetance. Mike isn’t perfect, but he’s a league leader not just in points, but in the plus/minus category, and suberb on breakouts. Plus, maybe he knows a thing or two about defending against certain Russians? The Canadians DESERVE to lose out in the Olympics, and I hope and pray they do.
