Shark Attack Near Our Home

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

This is such sad news. A possible great white shark attack off the Treasure Coast near Vero Beach, Florida.

I remember well the sad story of James Willie who was attacked less than a mile from our home.

The ocean is beautiful but it can hold hidden dangers. I am always aware of my surroundings when I enter the ocean.

We often watch kite surfers whiz by our beach front in Vero Beach. Who knew it could be such a doubly dangerous sport. Read this story. Jaws redux.

Say No to the “R” Word- Redux

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

I agree it is time. No more “R” word usage.

One of my best friends is part of the Best Buddies program. The word cuts deeply into his psyche. It stings, it hurts. I feel empathy for my friend. We were just together at the White House as part of the mentor’s month celebration. Would Potus have said something like this to me and my Best Buddy?

This issue has touched now on a major politician. It is quite unfortunate. Anthony Shriver deserves a call as well as apology.

Mrs. Shriver (if she was still with us) would have gone to the White House and shared a piece of her mind with all that would listen about this issue.

This is not much ado about nothing. This isn’t good practice and I would ask that you read this article within.

It is time. Say no to the “R” word.

Mass Hysteria!!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Oh gosh, it’s gonna snow. Oh gosh, the sky is falling, literally. J

We will publish info on my blog and on our Washington Capitals website about the games but my bet is if the other teams are here, we will be playing both games.

This is hockey weather. If we can play, we will.

Stay tuned for more info but no freaking out please. Go Caps!

Not Much to Say

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Dick Patrick has a great perspective on things. He is our President. He has seen a lot. He is having fun. He is happy but he isn’t satisfied. See his words of wisdom here.

I am disappointed that my begging on my blog for 24 hours of happiness and no negative emails didn’t work. I apologize for us NOT being undefeated and NOT winning the Cup in January. I also can’t predict the weather. I can’t move the games or postpone the games this weekend out of fear. I have very little fear.

I am happy that our players and their dads are all together in NYC. That time together will create sweet memories.

This is one of the best times of our lives. Embrace it. A win streak like this comes around very rarely.

We play a newly constructed Rangers team tonight in MSG. We then play Atlanta at home on Friday and then here come the Penguins on Sunday afternoon. We are too busy and too focused on each game to say much more right now.

Organistas

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

I love films like this one. Offbeat, unique and about subjects unexplored.

This film is about pipe organs and people who love them and play them like mad men.

In churches, in public places, in arenas. Loud and proud. They rock.

What would Caps games be without the organ music?

Check this film out. I enjoyed it.

I Am Old But Relevant

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Check out this Advertising Age article. I was using the term social media to Proctor and Gamble back in 1998. Thanks for remembering the good old days. A dozen years ago. We were cool but who ever remembers the past?
