Dick Patrick has a great perspective on things. He is our President. He has seen a lot. He is having fun. He is happy but he isn’t satisfied. See his words of wisdom here.
I am disappointed that my begging on my blog for 24 hours of happiness and no negative emails didn’t work. I apologize for us NOT being undefeated and NOT winning the Cup in January. I also can’t predict the weather. I can’t move the games or postpone the games this weekend out of fear. I have very little fear.
I am happy that our players and their dads are all together in NYC. That time together will create sweet memories.
This is one of the best times of our lives. Embrace it. A win streak like this comes around very rarely.
We play a newly constructed Rangers team tonight in MSG. We then play Atlanta at home on Friday and then here come the Penguins on Sunday afternoon. We are too busy and too focused on each game to say much more right now.
I’m curious as to what the haters are saying. Seriously. Give us a sample.
I woke up this morning. I am alive. Life is a gift. My wife of 33 years woke up with me. My kids are safe and happy living in parts of the country they want to be in. My granddaughter turned 10 months old yesterday.
I’ve been a Caps fan for 35 years. Through the ups and downs I have enjoyed every season. We now have some of the greatest players in NHL history on our team. We have a great team owner and management.
Enjoy life! Savor the “fun” of the “game” of hockey!
I enjoy the journeys, not the destinations!
Peace!
Teddy, These are people who look at the glass half empty. Delete them. We are TWELVE in a row!! ROCK the RED, WAY TO GO CAPS!!

Even with a Stanley Cup the naysayers will still complain about something.I had to walk two blocks to the parade route….WAAAAAAH WAAAHHH
I would love to see you take your own advice and not talk about the nay sayers so much. It seems you give more attention to them than the many more fans saying positive things. Just try to play it off as fans that have supported a team for decades and have always been let down no matter how great things looked. Then be happy you will be the owner to end that. I think that would be more wise then letting them obviously upset you so much
Don’t indulge the haters Ted… Anyone complaining at this stage is, at a minimum, simply being unrealistic. We’ve heard the grand plan, and for my money, you’re either on pace, or ahead of schedule. Let’s go CAPS!
As a longtime Cleveland sports fan, I just wrote one of the Plain Dealer sportswriters with whom I maintain an ongoing dialogue just how hard it is for fans to enjoy the similarly spectacular season by the Cavaliers, now in the midst of their own long streak. We’ve been so disappointed so many times in such epic fashion in the postseason (the Drive, the Shot, the Blown Save, the lost 3-1 ALCS lead, even last year’s upset by the Magic), that all we can think about is whether this is the team that will break a 45-year championship drought. It’s hard to savor what’s happening right now. I can understand how Caps fans would feel the same way.
Ted, Just delete those people.
The Caps are a great team and you are a great owner. Yes, winning the Cup is the only goal left at this point and long-time fans like me want it SO bad, but if the last 35 years have taught us anything it’s that the only guarantee is the journey, whatever it may bring.
THANK YOU!
