NHL.com on My Media Tour

The NHL media team was very nice to me yesterday in NYC.

Here is the NHL.com story as fallout from my book tour promoting The Business of Happiness.

Timing is everything in life. Who knew when I signed my book contract and finished the book and saw the release schedule that we would be first in the NHL and winners of 14 in a row? Fortune smiles down on those who are best prepared for success.

But sometimes it is better to be lucky than good, eh? I get it and the timing for my book is just lucky. And I admit it.

A Wise Man Once Said

I loved this column today. It was funny and captured the zeitgeist of our community.

We should demand – via email - that the Winter Olympic Games be moved to Washington, DC.

Our weather is more indicative of what a Winter Olympics should be all about. We have more snow, more cold and more storm related bedlam than Vancouver. DC is a hockey city. Look out your window. Is there any doubt?

We must hold an outdoor game here, too. This is winter central – snow central. Look out the window.

It is freezing. It is cold and snowing and frequently. Global warming? How about global freezing?

And I might add that I can’t get my newspaper today. I demand a refund from the Washington Post. Why should I pay for my paper when I can’t get it even though it has been delivered? Had to say it, sorry. :-)

Email Dick Ebersol at NBC. Email the powers that be at the Olympics. See if they respond. :-)

Nice one Mike! Thank you.

Punch. Counter Punch. OFB Wins!

A great write up here as noted, I agree completely. We were all witness to a fine game with our friends and we all had a great time. The league did the right thing and the fans supported us 110 percent. They were loud and proud.

There was no “blood on our hands.” I think sometimes folks go over the top and get melodramatic about certain events. It is now time to move forward and look to our next three games on the road before the Olympic break. Go Caps!

Are You Not Entertained?

You betcha! Check out these ratings and what it translates into in terms of people.

The Caps vs. Pens draws big and even the Caps vs. Thrashers draws big time, too. We are crossing over into popular culture now. The tent is getting bigger. It is nice and warm inside. Come on in and enjoy during these trying snowy times. Go Caps!

Sweet Lou…Dobbs

I was on the Lou Dobbs radio show yesterday. We had a great time on air. He is very relaxed and sure made me feel comfortable. He had me on for more than 20 minutes talking about business and my new book.

His show is syndicated into 200 markets and he has more than 5 million listeners. I really enjoyed the session and the interviews.

Lou Dobbs was even nice to enough to recommend my book on his website. Thanks Lou.

I also did a bunch of other interviews and even conducted three of them for XM radio NHL Live; for the NHL.com folks; and for the NHL channel as well – all in the NHL store that is chock full of Washington Caps gear and photos of Alex Ovechkin. It felt like home away from home.
