We are NOT ugly Americans. We can and would be great hosts to an Olympic games here in the United States. Click this link for an article that makes me say, “Huh?!”
NBC would love the United States to host the games.
Our citizens would love us to host an Olympics games here, too.
We as a country should mobilize to bid for the games and I really and sincerely think Washington DC/Baltimore would be a perfect spot to host a summer games. We have Verizon Center; Patriot Center; Comcast Center; Nationals Stadium; RFK; Redskins Stadium; Orioles Park; Ravens Stadium; a national aquatic center; a beautiful river; and many colleges for dorm housing. And in the summer, the traffic is less and tourists are here in record numbers.
Our President and our organizing committees should rally around the flag and bid for an Olympic games. Our local community should embrace that challenge as well. We have the infrastructure and capacity to handle the Games. Don’t forsake us. We are nice and deserving.
Agreed! And we have a tennis center and more than enough golf courses.
It sounds like you need to add number 102 to your list- President of the 2020 DC/Baltimore Olympic organizing committee. There can’t possibly be anyone more qualified than you. Media and major sports team ownership in addition to being a nice guy? No brainer. I’m in if you’re in. I can sharpen pencils, lick envelopes, take the trash out, make phone calls…
It is precisely for the reasons above that Washington DC will never seriously be considered as a future Olympics venue, beyond of course, the obvious.

I agree completely! DC is the World’s Capital now and deserves to host the Olympics. You, Mr. Leonsis, should be the host, as the leading sports owner in the region who sets the best example of spirited leadership. Thank you for your advocacy and I look forward to attending a Washington Olympic Games someday.
