Not Much to Say

Dick Patrick has a great perspective on things. He is our President. He has seen a lot. He is having fun. He is happy but he isn’t satisfied. See his words of wisdom here.

I am disappointed that my begging on my blog for 24 hours of happiness and no negative emails didn’t work. I apologize for us NOT being undefeated and NOT winning the Cup in January. I also can’t predict the weather. I can’t move the games or postpone the games this weekend out of fear. I have very little fear.

I am happy that our players and their dads are all together in NYC. That time together will create sweet memories.

This is one of the best times of our lives. Embrace it. A win streak like this comes around very rarely.

We play a newly constructed Rangers team tonight in MSG. We then play Atlanta at home on Friday and then here come the Penguins on Sunday afternoon. We are too busy and too focused on each game to say much more right now.

Just For One Shining Moment

We have won 11 in a row. A franchise record.

We are now first in the East. We are TEN POINTS ahead of New Jersey who is in second place.

We are first in our division, 25 points ahead of our nearest competition.

And we are now FIRST in the NHL with 82 points. Click here and see.

We are first in the NHL in goals scored. And first in a bunch of other team and individual stats.

For just today we have arrived.

We don’t have miles to go before we sleep.

We have arrived. Savor it. Enjoy it.

Please for just one day. I beg of you. No negative emails. No negative vibes.

Tomorrow all bets are off. We can worry, we can vent, and we can go back to our individual dark places. But for 24 hours I declare a no fly zone on negativity and unhappiness.

We deserve our success. We are what our record says we are. At least for one shining moment.

I Worry So You Don’t Have To

Winning tonight in Boston would be nice. We would get two more standings points. We would break our franchise’s record for most consecutive victories. Making that kind of history would be nice, but truthfully it would be kind of a muted celebration. We have proven to be a great team now in the regular season over the last three years. Each year we have improved in all facets of the game and statistically we are scoring at a record pace.

But to make history we have to prove it out in the playoffs. I know many of you are worried.

There are still a lot of games left to play this year in the regular season and I worry. I worry about our health, our momentum, and our mental health. I always worry. I worry about our “D”, our “O”, our goal tending, our special teams, our videos, and our fans. I worry about worrying! I worry for you so you don’t have to. So stop worrying. Enjoy the ride. Wish us luck tonight. Wish us luck the rest of the season. Wish our players luck in the Olympics. Wish us luck for the last 20 games. Wish us luck in the playoffs, if we make the playoffs. Don’t jinx us. Don’t worry. I will do the worrying for you. You can off shore your worrying to me. I am the chief worrying officer. The CWO of the Washington Capitals. So relax. Be happy.
