There were huge ratings for Canada vs. USA in the gold medal game. Wow - off the chart viewer ship. Really fantastic numbers across the board in the US and in Canada. Astounding. Wonderful. Well-deserved. We are all happy and I am hopeful than NBC is happy as well. See this New York Times blog post for a great perspective of the numbers.

Back to Work
The Olympics were fun. They generated a lot of pixels and words too. That is all great stuff but the Olympic Games are closed. We did our part and contributed our players and showed our support. We shouldn’t look back anymore at the Games. We shouldn’t be thinking about games in 4 years time.
Now we are back at it. 20 games left to play then the playoffs begin. We are here in service to our fans and our community now. We all wear Caps jerseys once again on the ice. We all have one goal and it isn’t a gold medal.
We have lots of work to do starting this week. Starting today.
It is time to re-focus. Time to get in synch about our collective goals here in DC.
Time to get back to work….
As Noted – A Hollywood Ending
As noted, it was a Hollywood ending. A true drama with a “public fall” with 30 seconds left to tie the game and then a “comeback” led by the starring hero. Congratulations to Team Canada and Sidney Crosby. That was impressive. Team Canada deserved the Gold Medal and the USA has zero to be apologetic for and should hold its head up high, as that was a great game. Compelling hockey with great drama and hopefully great ratings. That game had to be good for hockey as a whole and for NBC to begin to respect us as major sports programming.
I really enjoyed watching all of the games and seeing NHL players dedicate themselves to their sport and to their countries.
The 16 days of Olympic programming is now over. The hockey players all now return to their teams. We get back to playing in Buffalo against a great goaltender Ryan Miller I presume this coming Wednesday. All of our players will be back at it at practice tomorrow. We can now all get back to work.
Congratulations again to Team Canada for winning the tournament at home under all of that pressure. It was remarkable.
