Excellence is good in the NHL and in AHL

Here is a terrific article about the Washington Capitals and the Hershey Bears.

This systemic excellence was part of our plan and commitment to our fans and was a fundamental plank in our rebuild.

We clinched the SE Division last night. Some of you already have already mocked us for that for which I will never understand your rationale. We understand we have higher goals in mind but winning a division championship is an important first step.

We have won the division now 3 times in a row. It was also a promise to build a consistently great team that can compete for a championship year after year in both the NHL and the AHL. We have been delivering on our promises to you and to our players.

We are grateful for such a great relationship with our friends in Hershey.

We celebrate our win of the division with 15 games left to play.

Go Caps. Go Bears. Thank you fans.

  2. About the best thing an owner can do is engender trust in the fan base that there money will be well spent.

From winning the division on the last day of ’07-’08 season, to now 15 games before end of season, and Calder Cup competitive since ’06, winning in ’09 with a chance to repeat in ’10, you’ve been doing just that, Ted.

A lot of us have noticed this for a while now.

    Thanks, and don’t stop.

    Hep

  3. Forgot to add: this team has little to no “grit”, you know, the stuff that these new guys were supposed to bring to the table. That’s the most frustrating thing about it – they don’t hit anybody, win the wall battles, or just flat out hit guys in the mouth. It seems like Corvo especially is turning out to be a huge bust.

  4. Its great that we clinched something, but the team isn’t playing like the one with a 14-game win streak, or one that is 1st in the NHL. Varly looks bad still, lines don’t look comfortable, players don’t look very happy.. Not sure what the deal is with Boudreau switching up all the lines – Knuble taken off the first?? This is looking like the fall of the Roman Empire.

Sure it’s one loss, over-reaction is certain, but the past 4-5 games have been too close for comfort. We clearly have a problem that was created by the trade deadline moves.

I’m not very excited for Sunday’s game, I think this team is confused and lacking a clear sense of organization and coaching. A game like tonight wasn’t fun to watch unfortunately. Frustrating mostly
