I am pleased with the progress we are making at the Washington Mystics. We qualified for the playoffs last season. We hope to improve this season and of course go deeper into the playoffs. We want to build a model WNBA franchise that can compete and win a championship. That is our collective goal. Thanks to so many Mystics fans for turning out to the press event yesterday it means a lot to us and it was good to see you all.
Great signing indeed – this Mystics offence is going to be tough to shut down if Smith continues to be the sharpshooter she’s been throughout her career. She’s versatile too – can play small forward and point guard as well as shooting guard – but mostly I’m hoping her championship background in both the ABL and WNBA will rub off on the team and get the Mystics some real banners for the Phone Booth!
This is an excellent move by the Mystics to shore up their backcourt which wasn’t very deep after Lindsey and Alana with a veteran player and leader who has won everywhere at the professional level. Right now they are definitely a playoff team that can easily get in the Eastern Conference Finals and could even make some noise in the Finals. If you can get one more low post player at center to add to the front court, the Mystics can really win the championship THIS YEAR along with the Capitals!
