We are home. We are home and practiced at Kettler Capitals Iceplex for the first time in 10 days. What a brutal schedule.
We now play 7 of the last 10 games at home.
We have a lot to play for first in the East like the President’s Trophy. But to be honest some of the teams we are playing against are fighting for their playoff lives. So these 10 games will be tough ones.We play Boston and Atlanta twice each. Both are fighting for the 8th spot in the playoffs .We play Ottawa and we play Carolina on a back to back game on the road.
We play the Penguins twice. They are second in the East.
We should get focused, play tough and use these ten games as a way to prepare for the playoffs.
I am also hopeful we can rest up and heal up some of our players. Health is a key concern for all of us in the NHL this time of year.
If we play just 500 hockey here on out we would end the season at 116 points. That would be our best season in franchise history and may be enough points to win best record in the NHL.
But we would like to do better than that to enter the playoffs with momentum. Go Caps!!!
Ted, I didn’t get a chance to watch the game against the Pens yesterday, but I looked at the stats and even though we won, the stats aren’t good at all.
This scares me because this is the same type of game that we had back at the end of the winning streak where we end up winning the game even though we fell behind and took too many penalties and allowed too many shots…
I hope this gets to Bruce, but we need to watch out, remind the refs that they didn’t call enough penalties for us, seems like a common theme against the Pens, and also watch some of the mistakes done by the team and re-focus a little.
A game like this in the playoffs will end up in a loss.
Just my 2 cents, because i care and want to see the Caps win the Cup this year.
Thanks
Yes! Stay focused and play hard! I’m retiring on April 1st after 35 years with the National Weather Service and am celebrating by attending the game that night. I really hope that we (the whole family) get to see a great Caps victory. My son and I have gone to 2 other games this year (the Islanders on 10/30 and the Lightning on 3/12) and sadly we managed to see 2 of the few times the Caps have lost at home. We’ll be cheering for a great win as the Caps skate into the playoffs.
C-A-P-S Caps Caps Caps!
