Mia – Welcome to the Blogosphere

Don’t let comments and emails get you down. Everyone has an opinion. Everyone can leave a comment. Everyone has a point of view. Everyone can poison pen and mock someone, too.

But keep the faith. Keep blogging. Keep being a fan. Self express, show gratitude and be authentic. There are way more nice people out there than there are keyboard courage cowards. Trust me on this one. I get reminded of this fact often by our great fans.

Be yourself. Your blog is terrific. Keep at it. The more you blog - the happier you will be. Go Caps!

Not Happy About This

A video can tell a thousand words.

We don’t like head shots or having players trying to hurt other players.

I was saddened when I saw this play unfold last night.

Players need to respect one another.

I have no idea why this play didn’t draw a penalty.

Officials are human and they make mistakes because the game moves fast but I thought this was a pretty blatant penalty with intent to injure.

I am pleased that we won last night 2 to 1. It did feel like a playoff game in terms of intensity and in terms of playing a tight checking game.

We now have won 50 games back to back that is a first in franchise history.

We now have 112 points. That is most in our history and 8 up over San Jose in the race for the President’s Trophy. We are 5 -2 and 3 in our last 10 games. Chill and keep the faith.

USO USA

The Washington Capitals have a very close working association with the USO.

In fact the USO Chief Sloan Gibson and his lovely wife came to the Caps game with us last evening.

Also last night NBC news locally highlighted a wonderful story about how we helped reunite a military family at the game as well. Very heartwarming!

And now Snagfilms has done a nice venture with the USO as well.

Here are a bunch of military and globally themed films that the USO and Snagfilms will be offering to military personnel around the world. It is filled with special messages and an easy way to support the USO as a charitable concern.

Give to it feels good. Support our military families. Support the USO.

More on Perspective

So far the pundits would say that the Capitals, Penguins, Blackhawks and Sharks are the best teams or at least the most productive teams in the NHL this year.

The local media has been going crazy this week generating tons of pixels about the Capitals using words such as “implosion” or “decline “or ” skid” and worse.

Ok in the last ten games here are the records. Click here.

Capitals 5-2 and 3. For 13 points.

Penguins 4- 4 and 2. For 10 points.

Blackhawks 3-5 and 2. For 8 points.

Sharks 4-6 and 0 . For 8 points.

Last night the Penguins lost to the Lightning 2 to 0.

The Sharks lost to Dallas 5 to 1.

Imagine if we lost a game 5 to 1 in the race of the President’s Trophy or if we were shut out by the Lightning?

The Washington Post’s presses would melt down, their web site would explode, and their writer’s eyes would pop out of their heads :-) . Perspective people… perspective. Local media needs something to write about. How about a comparison of the top 4 teams and their play of late? What happens to teams in the last weeks of a season where they have clinched playoff positions?

This is why I write my blog to offer up different perspectives than main stream media. Flame away as I know four wrongs don’t make a right. Just saying though… Chill just a bit. Go Caps!!!
