Washington Mystics Attendance Banners

I was walking around the Verizon Center with Dick Patrick today and I asked one of the senior executives at the building about the Mystics attendance banners. And after some discussion we decided to take them down.

The only banners we should display revolve around winning a division or conference or league championship.

So to all of the folks who have emailed me your thoughts over the years about the attendance banners– as a heads up know they are no longer up in the rafters.

I hope we can put up some real championship banners based on team performance soon.

If you are unhappy about this change yell at me and only me.

Thanks…Go Mystics.

I also walked in and watched some of the Mystics practice today at the Verizon Center. The coach was drilling and running the team and prospects pretty hard which was great to see.

I hope to see you at some games here this summer.

Cool Site

THIS is why I love the web!

A friend sent me a link to this site and it has every brochure for every old automobile up online.

This is cool and nostalgic. Check it out by clicking here.

Those are pretty good numbers and a winning percentage that if extrapolated over a career would make for a hall of fame coaching career. The best numbers in the Capitals’ franchise history for a coach to start a career.

Mike does a wonderful job of providing perspective and answering blistering emails and rants on message boards. Read this article carefully. Thank you.

If anyone is to blame for our flame out in the first round it is me. Fish stink from the head down, so it is fair to criticize me as you have been doing. But it is not appropriate to ask for us to terminate key and talented people that deserve the opportunity to stay and see this journey through to its completion. I have received emails demanding that we fire George and Bruce, and trade Ovechkin and Backstrom. I feel your pain. I want to listen and internalize criticism, but trust me I won’t react to those emails!

We win as an organization. We lose as a unit. We are in it together and we are a tight knit, in-synch group. We have spent many years rebuilding a culture, a system, and a relationship with our affiliates in Hershey and South Carolina while implementing a system that is successful.

We need to tweak, change, and adapt to win and go deeper in the Stanley Cup playoffs. That is a process. It will be painful, but it is one that I am willing to take on, and one that we as a unit are all dedicated to see through.

We don’t quit, whine, finger point or hide. We aren’t anonymous. We are here for you. Go Caps.

Jerry West. Willis Reed.

The good old days.

Two of the greatest moments relived right here. NY vs. LA. NBA Finals. Click away. Watch.

I saw both of these games on television as a kid. Jerry West’s shot is the greatest shot in basketball history. And it only counted as a duece.

Willis Reed was the Captain. I had chills and goose bumps as a kid in Brooklyn. Dick Barnett. Walt Frazier. Cazzie Russell. Dollar Bill Bradley. Dave ! What a fundamentally beautiful team.

I enjoyed the editorial package. Check it out.
