Climbing Everest

What a challenge and what a film. Provides inspiration. Seeing people over come great odds makes me tingle and makes me feel motivated to do more and to do better.

A sight challenged person climbing Everest? Yes… you have to see this to believe it.

People CAN DO the impossible.

Lesson to Us All

Teams win.

It is a lesson to us all. A constant reminder.

Great stars are important to a franchise but teams win.

Momentum wins. What a series for the Boston Celtics. What momentum for the Montreal Canadiens.

As owners it is our job to build our teams around our stars. In the playoffs it is who has the best system, the best role players, and who creates the momentum and rides it ALL THE WAY to conclusion.

Capitalizing on breaks, getting the good calls from officials and health are vital to success. And stepping up the pace of play. Teams that can crank it up higher and higher and keep their energy and wits about them and pour it on under pressure. That seems to matter the most, doesn’t it?

No Lebron. No Alex. Not even Sid the kid.

It feels strange to not see these three great players still in the heat of the battle. The Caps had the best record in the NHL during the regular season and the Cavaliers had it in the NBA. We both lost early in the playoffs.

Teams with momentum win. Great teams win.

We have miles to go before we sleep. We can’t and don’t make excuses. We have work to do. Teams win. Momentum wins. We need to break that code.

Back and Forth–Back and Forth

I have to look forward now. No more rear view mirror for us. You can’t look back–someone may be gaining on you!

This was a funny article and the comments are a sight to behold–humanity and venting and protecting and fighting and writing well galore. Check it out.I love the fan base, the boards, and the passion. I find the comments awe inspiring.

I am passed it. Only doing work for our future now. That is best use of our time and bandwidth. Go Caps.

How did that happen?

How did Montreal beat Pittsburgh? How did they beat us in the first round?

They simply played better hockey. Their goal tending was amazing, he made the big stops when needed, and their style of play is so unique and disruptive. It is hard to process and react and get into your style of play. I liken it to a big puncher vs. a counter puncher in a boxing match. The Canadiens get out shots and played in their zone so all that matters is the final score. It is like the rope a dope strategy. It is very effective as all can see. It also takes “star players” out of the game. See some of our player’s series results and see how some of the Penguin’s biggest stars fared as well. Their system worked because they were so dedicated to it. And they make the most of their opportunities beating us 2 to 1 in game 7 then beating the Penguins 5 to 2 in game 7.

The Canadiens deserve a lot of credit. Pittsburgh is the defending Stanley Cup champs and a mini-dynasty with other worldly players. We were the best team in the NHL during the regular season. They beat us both and shut us down in game 7′s on the road. Take your hats off to them. They deserved what they have earned.

I feel no special redemption in Montreal’s win over the Penguins. I still feel badly that we lost. I feel badly for our fans and for our players.

I do respect great team play when I see it. Montreal is playing in that special magic zone right now with a lot of confidence and with a goal tender that is surreal right now. They are what their playoff record says they are. Congratulations to them as they move on.And we are at home working hard to try to improve and find our own magic formulae for next season.

Now tell me you aren’t excited as a sports fan about the potential of Stephen Strasburg? Read this article.

I am so very happy for the Washington Nationals. They are 4 games over 500 and 1.5 games out of first place. And Strasburg hasn’t pitched an inning yet in the major leagues for them.

His eventual arrival will be a world class premiere because the team is young, hungry, and well coached executing on a patient and smart plan.

It has weathered the random media criticisms with class. It is built to last and will only get better and better.

The Nationals will provide us all with great summer entertainment. I am a lucky season ticket holder. I can’t wait to see this kid pitch, too.
