A Test of Time

AOL has had many lives and many reincarnations. It has longevity. Today it celebrates its 25th birthday.

It will be great to see so many old friends at campus and it will be an honor to have a dedication in Steve Case and Jim Kimsey’s name. I am also honored to be recognized. See this Washington Post article within.

I retired from AOL in 2006. I guess I was right in my assumption that AOL would become a media company based on content and programming, and not an access based firm. I am thrilled the company is getting a major make over by new CEO Tim Armstrong. We all wish the employees and share holders of the new AOL the best and good fortune. AOL is like a family member to many of us.

In terms of coming home I shall always remember a philosopher’s great words…

“Be the way
Show the way
Go away
Stay away.”

Thank you AOL. Happy Birthday.
