Alex and Jose

Both are and were very deserving of winning their individual trophies and awards last night. We are proud of both players.

Alex was voted by his peers as the best player in the NHL.And Jose was voted as the individual who endured the most hardship and overcame the biggest obstacles during the season.

I was disappointed that Mike Green didn’t win the Norris Trophy, but that should just serve as another big motivator to play even better for the fans next season.

I am not as big a fan of individual awards and shows as I once was. We have now won a bunch. In retrospect, the awards will be looked at as being milestones in individual careers, but the biggest life time memories will be built around sharing a collective trophy and accomplishing a major communal goal. Enough said.

In regards to individual trophies to consider, I bet Nick Backstrom will soon win a Lady Bing or Selke award. He will be deserving. That is my prediction.

Here comes the draft end of the week. What a busy week.

NHL Awards. NBA draft. NHL draft. Wow.

  1. I think the saddest thing I heard in Jose’s speech last night was his use of past tense verbage. It was so obvious that he was saying good-bye to Washington and his fans. I believe the powers that be are making a big mistake letting Jose get away. And while I’m on the subject, I did not believe he should have been pulled from the playoffs. All that gave us was a repeat playoff performance of a rookie goaltender that looked spectacular until it was crunch time. Best of luck wherever you land Jose. I have no doubt that you’ll have a fantastic season and please know that you will still have fans in Washingon.

  2. Teddy, My computer crashed. I am at the library reading “Ted’s Take”. CONGRATULATIONS to the men & The Team! My motto is NO holding back on the ice. “To thine own self be true”. Can’t wait for hockey season. Go Caps!
