RIP John Wooden

A great man has passed on. A man who really was the biggest winner and had the most class and dignity of any man of our generation.

John Wooden was synonymous with college basketball, championships and a dynasty.

He was revered by his players; fellow coaches; academics; fans and media. And deservedly so.

He was an author as well. I have read his books. His belief in doing the little things perfectly and with repetition (this is how you put on your socks - do it again; this is how you lace up your sneakers - do it again) are lessons of lore.

He was a true giant and a true legend and a role model for us all. What a life to lead. Retire as a champion at 64 and then live to be 99 years of age. Celebrate his life and times.

Bill Wise to CEO of Mediabank

Big and exciting news here as Bill Wise joins Mediabank as CEO. I am proud to be on this company’s board of directors. I think Mediabank is well positioned in the media analytics business. Bill is a very experienced and highly regarded executive. Read all about this development here.

Tony — You Forgot to Mention…

Peter Barris of NEA and Harry Weller of NEA. They rock. They build great value.

You forgot to mention Steve Case and his team at Revolution. Who is hotter right now? Revolution Money, Exclusive Resorts, Living Social, Clearspring, Zipcar…and on and on.

You forgot to mention Phil Bronner at Novak Biddle. He supports the region so well. He picks early and often and well.

You didn’t mention me — Revolution Money, Groupon, Clearspring, SnagFilms, Mahalo, SBNation… and on and on.

Or Miles Gilburne, or Nigel Morris — best local angel investors out there with a great portfolio.

This is a good list but an incomplete list. There are a lot of great investors out there.

You Did the Work. Thank You

Our fans are the reason we will host a Winter Classic in Washington DC sometime in the near future. The league has confidence in us now that we are considered a great hockey market. Thank you…Thank You… Thank You. We now have one of the top 5 season ticket holder bases of fans in the entire NHL. Thank you.

Our players are the reason we go to Pittsburgh this winter to play in the classic. Thank you. We hope to see you all at that game to bring in the New Year in a fun and exciting way. Thank you.
