Why Let Facts Get in the Way of Madness?

This is a smart piece on the money.

Free agency and adding stars to a lineup does NOT guarantee a championship over night in the NBA. Perhaps in a Sony Playstation game it does, but not in real life. Read this one. Gulp. Reality and stats sometimes are scary, but hey, why do the research when it is more fun to just wish a championship home, right?

Not.

There is no magic wand to waive to win a trophy. I wish there were. I would try to buy one too if it came with a guarantee!

Good for the Young Players

I am happy to see our new draftees mingling amongst the community, and establishing their mentor role with young adults in DC.

“To those who much is given, much is expected.”

And good for John Wall for choosing number 2 to pay homage to his parents — and for honoring our legacy as a franchise with respect to “The Big E!”

Now on to camp and a bunch of hard work. Then to the summer league in Vegas. Read this one.

Draft – Develop — Retain

That is our strategy. Better the devil you know, than the devil you don’t.

We are glad Jeff is back in the fold.

He led the NHL in plus minus. He is still quite young. He is still developing. He is a good teammate and good in the room.

We were forced to place a free agent signing on waivers. Perhaps there is a team that is interested in Michael Nylander who is on the last year of his deal?

In most of our trade discussions to date, the players who are being offered to us are previous free agent signings from other teams. Such a weird dynamic, isn’t it?

We know we still have work to do, but free agency isn’t a panacea for many teams. We see that every day. Free agency is merely one tool used to improve the team. The issue is that when you make a mistake in free agency, it is usually a big costly one.
