Mystics Winning as a Team

Here is a good article about the team play of the Washington Mystics.

We lost our best player to injury in the off season and yet we are in first place in the East. We are 12-6 and we play this afternoon at Verizon Center. I will be there, will you?

I have always heard from our fans that if we win, we make the playoffs. We contend that attendance will skyrocket.

Ok. We make the playoffs. We are in first place. We have rebuilt the team. We are contending.

Your move.

Come on out and enjoy some great basketball. Support these great role model young ladies. Go Mystics!

  1. if you can’t fill the seats why not “give” away tickets. People will show up and possibly get interested in the sport. While they are there you know they will buy a drink or something to eat………just an idea.

Thank you for all you have done for DC teams and the spirit of the area!
    GO CAPS!

  2. I’ve been reluctant to attend many Mystics games due to a lifelong aversion to basketball that began in my youth in Indiana when the cross-town rival high school team made the playoffs every year, and my high school’s team fell short. Because my dad was Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, I had to go to ALL the playoff games, and I had to cheer for the county team – our cross-town rival – and take all the taunts and jeering from my friends at our church, which was between the two school districts. As a result of this, and of my home town (Terre Haute, IN)’s fawning over Larry “the Hick from French Lick” Bird when the Celtics won their title the first time, I developed a distaste for basketball that I just can’t get past.

Perhaps the Mystics’ success will spark my interest – certainly men’s basketball is uninteresting to me, especially since I almost never see guys called for traveling anymore. It’s ridiculous how much they get away with in the NBA. “Three steps,” indeed. :-p

That said, I’m pleased to see the Mystics doing well, and I hope your ownership will improve the Wizards’ success as well.

What are the odds of you buying the Redskins and the Nationals while you’re at it? ;-)

In all seriousness, you’re doing a great job with the teams, and if I wasn’t broke at the moment, I just might find myself in the Verizon Center this afternoon.
