Cooler Heads Usually Prevail

I thought this article was reasonable and rationale. Thank you. I agree with much, if not all of what is posted here.

I have received a couple or three personal attacking emails from deeply troubled people — from alleged fans who say the nastiest things about ethnicity, personal attacks about religion, race, and nationality. Truly despicable. And frankly cowardly too.

I have developed very tough skin of late. I just delete now and ignore, but it does surprise me the things that some people say, the racism that people show, the hate mongering and anger that lurks within some folks. Such is life. I will take the high road. I won’t respond.

Wale is a Caps Fan

And I am hopeful he can become a big time Wizards fan too.Wale dropped Ovechkin into a rhyme.

I know Wale and his management.

He is a talent, and he is a home grown artist “made good.” Kudos to him.

We want to embrace and love all of our fans.

Wale is a big time sports fan, and a great cheerleader for DC. We hope to make him and all of our fans proud.

Almost a Good One

Until the end.

I liked this story until the end, which just isn’t true.

We want to improve but NOT via a huge new contract for a wing in free agency.

This story though is pretty much how many people feel about the signings to date.

Free agency is a huge risk, but also can yield good returns.

There is a hard cap. There is arbitration. There are players we have that will come off of contracts, and need to be rewarded in out years. This is a small needle to thread. Some teams will be very happy. Some teams won’t be. We know we still have work to do to improve. The off season isn’t over yet.

More Great Books

Switch: How to Change Things When Change is Hard by Chip Heath and Dan Heath. Wow — best business book I have read in many a year — 5 stars from me; a perfect read. Buy it today.

The Facebook Effect by David Kirkpatrick; I felt like I knew most of this information; but still a good book; if premature in its breathlessness of how Facebook has conquered the world.

Happy Independence Day America!

Living in our nation’s capital, I am constantly reminded and humbled by how lucky I am to live in the United States. With at least one monument in view nearly everywhere you are in DC, history is a living presence, and national pride is a consistently re-awakened emotion. But anywhere in America can summon up our patriotism and respect – and remind us that we are constantly challenged to live up to the founders’ broad vision for our nation. Check out these three very unique documentaries over the holiday weekend and journey to all corners of our amazing country…via paragliding or on a two lane road. Enjoy. Celebrate. Happy Independence Day America!

Time Will Tell

Time will tell which moves work and which moves don’t.

Articles like this are easy to write; what always amazes me is when the articles discuss who was added to a team–NOT who has left a team. Or who still needs to be traded from a team to fit the new free agent into the lineup.

Shiny and new always seems to be the best approach in the off season; lose a great D man to another team; and then add a D man makes a team improved you say; and why is that?

Free agency is a fun time — a risky time — and is just one of the ways a team can improve; draft — trades — internal promotions; free agency — trade deadline moves. We will use them all. That is all we can do.

Sorry we aren’t making big news Caps fans in free agency; but we will improve — we will use all of our tools; I am confident in that plan of attack. And haven’t we earned a benefit of the doubt — I guess not with OFB?. Time will tell who is right or wrong; I shall save this one to discuss at a later time.

Apology

I have been blogging for 5 years now — almost every single day. In all of that time we have posted more than 10,000 comments from our readers, and I have never had an issue with hate mongering or racist remarks, until today. And for that I apologize, as our filter somehow got passed and a comment from a reader made its way onto my blog. We have never had this happen before, and we will be doubly vigilant to make sure something like this never happens again.

I am ashamed to have a reader post something that got shared with all of you. If you happened to read it, we sincerely apologize. The comment has been taken down and that user will be banned from my site.

And shame on that one individual for his tonality, his word choices, and his hateful, racist outlook. Simply unacceptable and unforgivable. Despicable in every way.

I am truly hurt and troubled by this experience, and we will make sure it never happens again.
