And a new system that is fun and interactive and innovative installed in the arena. The Verizon Center will have lots of cool new things as promised – 101 new improvements in 101 days. That is our motto.
The new interactive camera system will allow us to do some really fun promotions via section by section competitions and and the banners are just a fast way to remind folks that there is a lot going on at Verizon Center. We want to support Georgetown basketball, too. They are tenants in the building. I am on the board of directors of Georgetown and I am an alumnus of the College. Hence we mention Hoya basketball. We promote Beyonce as a proxy for great concerts; Alex Ovechkin as the face of the Capitals; Langhorne because she is a great Mystics home grown player; and Blatche because he earned the right to be promoted with his stellar play last season when he got more minutes.
We shall rotate images and players throughout the year so don’t read tea leaves too closely. And we will also launch old school/new school sets of posters where we highlight a player a la John Wall or Gilbert Arenas and show a former star player looking over his shoulder a la Earl Monroe or Phil Chenier and same with the Capitals and the Mystics. We need to market the teams. We need to have the teams be successful to earn your time and attention and your hard-earned dollars.
