NBA Offseason Performance Grades by ESPN

ESPN’s Chad Ford recently graded all 30 NBA teams based on their offseason performances. The Wizards received an A, tying them with Oklahoma City for the second-highest mark in the league (behind Miami’s A+). In addition to his acknowledgement of how quickly we’ve been able to turn things around following last season’s numerous distractions, he had the following observations:

· John Wall “has a chance to be a superstar”

· The trade for Kirk Hinrich “was a steal” and also brought us an “intriguing first-round talent” in Kevin Seraphin

· Yi Jianlian could be “a steal” based on the promise he showed at the World Championships

· Gilbert Arenas is “healthy, humbled and vowing to take it out on opponents”

· The Wizards could “be contenders again in a few years”

We are indeed proud of the rebuilding plan we’ve been able to put into place in such a short amount of time. But the real work will begin in earnest when the team steps onto the court at midnight on September 28.

  1. Ted – glad to have you at the helm. It should be a fun to team to follow this year. Might surprise a few folks. Thanks!

  2. So excited for the season. Even if this turns out to be the worst team of all time ;) , it’s hard to see (realistically) how the front office could have done a better job. No matter what, this should be a fun, fun team.
