Music To My Ears

Youth must be served.

Teaching and creating a culture of winning; having good habits; understanding the blessings of playing for a professional NBA team; being in pursuit of a higher calling; focusing on systems; process; and wins not stats. We are making progress - fast - lots of positive energy with the fan base and lots of serious pursuit of teamwork at camp.

I am heading out to Wizards practice. We are back to basics. We are iPad enabled too.

Out of Context Is Out of Context

I was shocked in 1994. We had acquired ICQ at AOL. We needed to create revenue streams around it so we added a search box to the control panel.

I thought that this was a great consumer benefit. The ICQ messenger service was always on. It had persistence. It was right in front of you. A customer could talk to a friend and then search the web without firing up a browser. This was convenient and would generate lots of click through and lots of dollars for us.

It was a complete dud.

When we researched why we found that consumers take their friend to friend communications very seriously. They don’t get into any other mode outside of communications. They don’t want to be distracted.

Last Night at the Caps Game

Thanks to the fans that have emailed me and noticed a few fun and promised new things last night: The red steps; the beer holders in the men’s rooms; the beer vendors in the stands visiting you; the cooler temperature in the stands making for better ice;  and the new posters in the concourse.

We will soon publish a list of all deliverables to you - more than 101 items in less than 101 days.

A fun game last night, too as already noted. We have a good stable of young centers that may make our team. They all scored or recorded a point in the game last night. They can all scoot; have speed; and diligence on the defensive end as well.

And welcome DJ King. We haven’t seen that kind of presence here in a while. The fans enjoyed your time on the ice. Welcome!

Thoughtful

I have a very smart friend. He is very thoughtful and quite successful in his career. I watched him in a session with some analysts and he actually said as an answer to a question, ”You know - at the end of the day, it is what it is.”

I laughed internally. Now that was a bunch of empty calories as a comment.

I try very hard to be straightforward with my answers. Even when holding an impromptu Q&A session at 1:00 am and feeling like I needed a shower in the worst of ways. :-)
