Busy. Busy. Busy. Fun. Fun. Fun.
Wear red and come on out to Verizon Center. Alex Ovechkin will play his first pre-season game tonight, too.
I missed you all. It will be so great to see you all again tonight. Go Caps!

We had a great time, too.
See what you missed?
Come on out to a practice. Come on out to the Fan Fest on Sunday.
Don’t get upset. Try to be happy.
Last night was fun!
My comment was referring to having training camp here in Northern Virginia and NOT in Richmond. Or North Carolina. Or someplace else disconnected to our immediate fan base. Richmond is a great community but for the most part it is too far away for those fans situated there to become full season ticket holders.
I think of “DMV” as our home.
George Mason University is close to our fans in Maryland, Virginia and DC, our served community and our home. We are actively reaching out to fans in Baltimore now as well.
The Caps thrived on the ice and the business side when we moved our practice facility closer to the arena and to Northern Virginia. We wanted the fans to be connected to the team in the preseason and at camp.
The Wizards practice at Verizon Center in DC during the season and our camp is now at George Mason University, a destination that all our fans can come and see and hang out and have fun and get to know this new team. In Northern Virginia, the fastest growing community.
We had almost 4,000 people attend practice last night on a rainy Monday night. The folks came from everywhere - the campus; VA; DC and MD. It was loud last night!
Thank you for the support. It was a fun event and executed quite well. The players were happy. The season has commenced with a strong start at camp.
I think this level of enthusiasm shown last night was spectacular and that the notion that DC or “DMV” is a basketball crazed community is right on the mark. Come out to camp. Have some fu. Get away from your keyboards. Mingle with people and fans. See the players up close and personal.
With open arms.
Our Bullets and Wizards alumni.
I am so pleased to launch this program as a way to pay homage to the past while securing our bright future.
Please read this article and read the quotes within. It makes me smile.
New year. New team.
A positive approach to look forward.
Thanks to the Washington Post for this article and interview with our executive business team.
I am proud of all team members working on these campaigns at the Wizard’s organization.
Thanks for caring so much and for your professionalism.
I hope to see every one tonight at 11:00 pm at George Mason University.
A good and fun film on SnagFilms. This is a documentary about the TV show Lost; what it means; and how to decipher its symbols. The DVD is an awesome set of work. Watch this film first - it will help. Unravel the mystery by starting here.
The new Wall Street movie is OK; not great – not bad. Worth seeing and remembering the good old days.
Michael Douglas is good. The cast is good. The writing is a bit overwrought but the direction and cinematography is top notch.
The clothes are cool.
The best thing in the film is the soundtrack provided by ex Talking Head’s David Byrne. That was fantastic.
We think of open developer communities; and ecosystems; and platforms a lot in the Internet industry.
Names that spring to mind are Microsoft; Google; Facebook; Apple; American Express; Visa; and Amazon. They all utilize scale; network effect; open API’s; and third parties. They all capitalize on technology infrastructure; large customer bases; and innovation by many to serve many. Apps are hot. He who has the most developers wins!
When I read this article, I started to believe even more that a sports team and building - such as the Washington Capitals and the Verizon Center – are also platforms and developer communities with thriving third party building businesses off our platform.
Think about it.
But I am surprised and disappointed to note that they didn’t include GridPoint; Clearspring Technologies; SBNation; Mahalo; and SnagFilms in this list. I believe all of these companies are worthy of inclusion.
I also think Groupon should be ranked higher on this list as well as MediaBank.
But hey – I am biased and unabashed in my support of these companies. Click here to see the list from Business Insider.
I start the day in NYC and go to NHL executive committee meetings.
Then head over to American Express HQ for a board of directors meeting.
Then head over to NBA HQ for a team meeting with financial folks.
Then jump on a plane and land at Dulles and head over to George Mason University campus for 11:00 pm meetings followed by camp tip-off at 12:01 am.
An 18 hour day - in two different cities.
I work hard for no money.
